Pam Lau, SSYWG President:
Pam has been a yoga enthusiast and practitioner for more than forty years. She found that the more she shares her practice with others the more she learn about the sacred art of yoga. Her passion in life is to help others in maintaining a happy and healthy life through wellness retreats, yoga classes and modeling kind behaviors.
She began studying yoga with a personal yoga trainer and role model, Agnes Norsigian in 1975. Agnes was trained directly by the famous yoga guru, B.K.S. Iyengar, in India. Iyengar’s book Light on Yoga, remains one of the most popular seminal reference works for many yogis today. Pam recognizes her sessions with Agnes, though grueling, developed her strong foundation in yoga. Living in remote geographical locations, she used videotapes and DVDs in her regular practice. While in Alaska, she taught yoga for the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After retiring in 2010, while sailing in the South Pacific and Asia, she taught yoga to sailors at many different ports. In 2014, after four decades of yoga practice, Pam received her yoga teacher training certification in India. She now teaches yoga classes in her studio in Shorecrest outside of Shelton, Washington.
